First piece in a new land :)

I present to you my Denim and Pearls necklace! The pendant started out as part of a free-form cuff bracelet gone bad. After much debate (and a pair of scissors), I decided to liberate it from its' ugly surroundings and let it stand on its own. Add some Swarovski Crystal Pearls, and tiny Swarovski Crystal 2mm rounds, and you have a necklace! Available in my Etsy Shop http://www.gypsybeads.etsy.com/.

In the Swing of things

Well, I'm back into the swing of things. I bought a house in the last month, had my first jewelry show in Denver, and got married. Now I'm trying to settle into my new studio. Still trying to find out where to put things, and what type of storage I want. I finally have the room painted, the hardwoodfloors are down, and I have a make-shift workbench. Lot's more to do though, and I'll keep you posted as things come up!

Long time, no see...

I have recently been reminded that I haven't blogged in ages. This is mainly due to the fact that I have been using a huge block of my time preparing for buying a house. We did find a house we liked in a very short period of time, and are now getting ready to close on it in a week or so. To answer the question that I'm sure is burning in all of your minds.....Yes, I will have my own bead room! It is a lovely little room that opens out onto a little balcony (that needs a little work), and it has the best light in the house, so I'm sure my beads will be happy there. I'm still working on storage solutions and the like since I get to build my room from the ground up. I've decided to go with a nice french blue for the walls, and white for the trim and furniture. A medium hardwood floor would suit me nicely. I'll be tearing out my closet to put in shelving most certainly. So, a lot of painting and a bit of demolition, and I'm sure I'll be pleased as punch with my new room. I promise to post pictures as soon as I have some. In the meantime, here are the before pictures. Wish me luck!

Breathe in...Breathe out...

This evening I attended my second yoga class with my friend Shannon. The class was taught by a man who was much more our pace, we thought, focusing on breathing and how you feel in a pose. I am proud to say that I made it almost all the way through stopping only for water and the occasional giggle fit. Toward the end of the class while in downward facing dog I felt my left heel actually touch the ground for a second. Score!

Tomorrow starts a new day and a new job. It's a very early day compared to what I'm used to, but I'll deal. Wish me luck!

Yoga

I had a great idea on the 4th of July....I should take a yoga class! I invited my friend Shannon to go sometime and, to my surprise, she wanted to go yesterday. We both had to stop at times and just sit there for a minute before jumping back in. The room was hot (a normal practice for a lot of yoga studios. It's supposed to get rid of all the impurities), and the excercise was strenuous, but I think it was a good thing. Today I'm sore in places I didn't even know existed, but I'm no worse for wear. Shannon is also nursing a few sore spots, but feels that another trip would be a good thing. Wish us luck!

Namaste',

Foliage Bracelet

Just finished! Trying out a new style of toggle here. I really like the way it compliments the beadwork. This project took around 15 hours over a couple of months. I'm not sure I'll be able to give this one away!

Back from Beadland!

Here I am, back for a couple of weeks now from the Bead and Button Show. It was such an amazing experience....better even than last time I think. I had a great time with my projects, and an even better time with my friends. I am so inspired to create, which is great because of my recent drought of creativity. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to bring any of my ideas to fruition, but I hope that will end soon. One thing that I came back with was an identity crisis for my business name. My former business name was Gypsybeads, and it was near and dear to my heart. The problem? Every time that someone heard my name they thought Cheap Hippy Jewelry, instead of Fun, Eclectic, and Colorful. So when I moved to Denver, I came up with Artifice Studios which sounds very artful and modern. As much as I like my new name, my old name really embodies for me the spirit of my jewelry...so I'm turning back time and embracing the path of the Gypsy again. Have any of you had problems with your chosen name? Drop me a line to let me know.
Thanks,

Megan
